Challenge Time

Hi crafty peeps,

It has been a very long time since I last took part in a challenge and not entirely by choice. In fact for the most part it is because the blogs or companies that I would do monthly challenges with have stopped doing challenges or stopped doing blogs! I have missed them so badly, as they were an excellent prompt for getting crafts done, for new ideas, for challenging my norms, and for getting me out of a crafting slump.

Then I came across a blog by the name of "white ... with one" which has a monthly challenge - a layout only colour challenge, being white with one other stated colour.

I actually saw it last month but didn't take part as the colour was orange and that was never going to happen with me! However April is Blue - Helium Blue to be exact - and that is something I can definitely do.

Something I discovered, unexpectedly, is that it was actually really difficult to stick to the rule of 85% white and only one other colour (blue) - I guess I always throw in accent colours and you just can't with this challenge. I did do the journaling and date in a neutral (grey) as I don't have an appropriate blue.

Enough talk, onto the pictures.

Lots of white, lots of stitching, lots of stars.

My title was made using my Mini Alphabet Punch Board out of scraps of appropriate blue patterned papers. I stitched it on down the centre of each letter.

White, hand-cut, cardstock stars stitched on with white thread, white star brads, and tiny blue punched stars. Lots of visual interest with dimension and texture.

The photo is layered with blue and white patterned paper and two layers of white tissue paper.

This bunny button isn't the ideal shade of blue, but I have had it in my stash for years (and years and years) and decided it was the perfect time to use it or I never would! In the top left corner I added a rub-on in the same blue to balance the page.

As he had just woken from an afternoon sleep I wanted to add the moons (tag and brad) to emphasise the sleep aspect of the photo.

I loved doing a challenge again! I hope you have found something to inspire your next paper crafting session.

Until next time,
Jessica T.

Now I better not forget to link it up!

UPDATE: I wasn't chosen as a winner for this layout, but I was a drawn winner from all entrants to receive a little prize.
