Colourful School Photo Layout

Good morning!

As school photos rolled around for another year, I thought it was time to scrap the old ones. This layout was a ton of fun to create, and uses many different ideas I've seen in many different places to create something very original. Take a look:

This is how it came together: see the sticker sheet in the photo below with a couple of book labels still in it? That is the basis of my layout.

I created watercoloured areas roughly behind each open space, colour on colour.

And then I created clusters of embellishments in each open space, colour on colour.

I used whatever I had in that colour, and tried to use all the school things I had.

This green cluster is my favourite (which is a shock considering that green is definitely not a favourite colour of mine). The green Primary sticker was stuck onto white cardstock and cut out before being added with foam dots. And that adorable school bus button has been begging to be used for many years.

In this cluster I used the flair with patterned paper strips to look roughly like a rosette ribbon.

It is finished off with a Year 2 title, and white stars being added over the entire page in a diagonal line - they are barely noticeable but added much needed texture and added interest around the busy centre. They really made a huge difference.

As always, don't be afraid to try something different. Don't be afraid to take inspiration from a range of sources and bring them together to try something new for yourself. Experimenting is fun. And so is using up your stash. I refuse to waste anything, and can't wait to use up as much as I can - then I can get new supplies!

Until next week,
Jessica T
