"Pineapple Dream" Layout Challenge

Hey there,

Today's layout is for the White ... with 1 November challenge. The colour of the month is Pineapple Dream ~ Yellow. Boy did I struggle with this one! I actually made four layouts before I was happy enough with one of them. I actually considered not entering this month at all ... however, this months' colour challenge is also their creative team / design team call - so to do a design team application you have to enter the challenge!!!! So I soldiered on and spent many an hour working away at my different yellow layouts and this is the one I decided on:

I went with a horizontal design across the centre of the page.

I decided on a black title, to contrast with the bright page (white and yellow) and to tie in the dark areas of the photo. This sits next to a cluster of yellow die-cut embellishments.

The photo is layered on a yellow mat which sits on a white tissue paper strip that runs the full width of the page. I did a big section of journalling on this layout, which I also did in black, and I added in a whole bunch of small yellow / gold elements in three areas of the page for the all important visual triangle.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like what I have done with the colour, and that you have been inspired by something you see.

Until next week,
Jessica T

  1. Valiant effort Jessica, I think you have done a terrific job of working with a colour you don't really like - I guess that is the challenge really and I think this page is rather cute. A little bit of "real" is sometimes just what we need! Thank you for sharing with us on Ww1.

    1. Thank you. For me scrapbooking isn't just about beautiful portrait photos, it's about real life and the accompanying stories too!

  2. Great job persisting with the layout, because this is fantastic. I love that you have done so much journaling as well, to tell the story. Thanks for joining us at WW1, and good luck.

    1. Thank you! I don't often do a lot of journaling, but it really does tell the story and I should do it more frequently. The title alone is often not enough to make you understand or (more importantly) remember the situation.

  3. Well done for soldiering on ... you did a great job. And I love what you scrapped "Keeping the cows out" - absolutely fabulous! Thank you for joining us at White ... with 1 :)

    1. Thank you. I thought 'keeping the cows out' was a little more interesting than 'our back yard' - I get sick of the same kind of titles after scrapping for a few years! And real life should be remembered too :-)

  4. Oh good on you for journalling on your layout, hand writing is so lovely to see, something I certainly don't do enough of. Lovely layout, glad you persisted with it.
Thanks so much for joining us at White with One.
