A Kraft Background

Hey there folks,

Thanks for stopping in today.

As the post title suggests, I have a layout with a kraft background today. What a blast from the past !!!

Why did I choose to do a kraft background? Well, for a number of reasons. Followers of my blog will know that I'm using pre-printed photos - the photo I chose to scrap is dark, with only browns, red and white. It is a limited pallette, not a colour scheme I'd usually use, and probably would've been better printed in black and white. But that's the photo I'm working with. I felt a kraft background would suit this page. I also like to use up supplies and not let them waste - so I have to use it more often (I cannot recall my last use of kraft cardstock).

That's enough talking, onto the layout:

The colours in the photo, and the layout, aren't my most favourite, but the more I look at it the more I like it. We've got to push ourselves from time to time right? Keep things interesting - or difficult - to keep yourself thinking.

I could've used a neutral colour for my title - after all, the whole layout is brown, black and white - but I pushed myself and went with the bold red.

I did a few layers behind the photo in everything except the red. I added in red and grey stars all over the page, but in the vertical line of the layout.

I also used this black heart with gold foil. I worked out where it was going to sit, layered behind the photo, and then punched a 1 inch heart from the covered section to add lower on the page - for continuity of colour and pattern.

Well that's it for today. Thanks for stopping in. As always, I hope you've been inspired to dig through your stash and use up some of those older products. Push yourself. All your pages don't have to look the same.

Until next week,
Jessica T
